RiverWinds
participation is equal to national rate for renewable program
About one and
one-third percent of the residential customers in MRES Minnesota member
communities are participating in the
RiverWinds program. That matches the national rate for
participation in a renewable energy program.
Several Minnesota member communities have
participation rates that are considerably higher than the national average.
Highest among those is Lake Park, Minn., with a 3.5 percent participation
rate, followed closely by Detroit Lakes and Luverne at 3.2 percent.
Another MRES Minnesota member, Moorhead
Public Service, has its own wind power program, called Capture The Wind.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy
Laboratory, Moorhead Public Service has the highest customer participation
rate (5.8 percent) in a green-pricing program in the nation.
